A "Greenway" is a long, narrow piece of land, often used for recreation, pedestrian and bicycle traffic that links vital parts of a community.
● Greenways bring greater connectivity to a community
● Greenways provide greater walkability which contributes to a myriad of health, environmental and economic benefits
● Greenways provide greater bikeability which contributes to a myriad of health, environmental and economic benefit.
● Greenways contribute immensely to green sustainability.
● Greenways provide countless opportunities for economic renewal and growth. Increased property values and tourism and recreation-related spending on items such as bicycles, in-line skates and lodging
We believe it to be of paramount importance for our community's health and future that we make it possible for people to move by means other than the automobile. Walkability and Bikeability matter and translate to better economic sustainability.
There are many benefits of trails and greenways that planners, funders, and the public need to know about: they make our communities more livable; improve the economy through tourism and civic improvement; preserve and restore open space; and provide opportunities for physical activity to improve fitness and mental health.
